The Battle of Gettysburg
With the approach of union General George B. Meade`s forces, Confederate General Robert E, Lee concentrated his army around Gettysburg, PA. On July 1, Confederates drove union defenders thorough Gettysburg to Cemetery Hill. The next day Lee attacked the top of the union line resulting in severe fighting at Devil`s Den, Little Round Top, the Wheatfield, Peach Orchard, Culp`s Hill, and East Cemetery Hill. The south gained ground but could not remove the presence of the Union. On July, 3rd a fight happened at Culp`s Hill due to the north regaining the land they lost. That same day, after a massive bombardment, Lee attacked the Union on Cemetery Ridge, and lost this is what is known as Pickett`s charge. The invasion by Lee was not successful.
