Seven Days Battle One Pager
The Seven days Battle (a.k.a. Seven Days Campaign) occurred from June 25 to July 1, 1862, with six battles along the Virginia Peninsula that's east of Richmond. The goal for the Union was to reach Richmond, the Confederate capital, but were driven back to the James river by the rebels, who were led by a new field commander, General Robert E. Lee. As the Union forces, under McClellan's command, marched and fought towards Richmond, Lee was strategically ordering assault after assault, until McClellan finally retreated, saving Richmond.
This battle is important and interesting because it shows that both the Union and Confederates don't plan on letting the other win. Robert E. Lee's command shows that. The Union forces had 100,000 men, which is quite an amount of men but they didn't reach their goal, which was to go and seize Richmond.
